Pregnenolone
Pregnenolone is a hormone synthesized from cholesterol. It's a precursor hormone to DHEA as well as the other hormones. Pregnenolone is produced both in the brain and the adrenal cortex. Like other hormones, the production declines with age. When pregnenolone production drops, so does the production of all other hormones in the hormone pathway.
