DHEA

DHEA, dehydroepiandrosterone, is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands, the brain and the skin. It is the most abundant steroid hormone in the body. The hormone, DHEA, is converted to estrogen, testosterone and progesterone. Researchers discovered that DHEA drops steadily as we age and could be used as a biomarker to measure the aging process itself.

DHEA:

  • Secreted by nerve tissue and the adrenal gland
  • Reduced cardiovascular risks by increasing lipolysis (fat breakdown)
  • Stimulates the immune system
  • Restores sexual vitality
  • Improves moods
  • Decreases cholesterol and body fat
  • Improves memory
  • Increases energy
  • Slows the aging process
  • Has anti-cancer properties by enhancing the immune system
  • Beneficial for the treatment of auto immune diseases

Note: Division of Immunology and Rheumatology, Stanford University Medical Center, documented that DHEA appeared clinically beneficial in the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
